The ‘Reverse Referral’ Concept

The golden rule of  “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” applies to referrals too. When you give a referral, the people on both sides should feel like they are being treated with respect.

In order to tap the true power of referrals, we need to focus on creating a referral motivation that is about giving rather than taking. This mindset forces a business to think about ways to deliver real value first and in doing so become more referable.

The ‘reverse referral’ concept is closely linked with relationships. One of the best ways to develop a long term relationship is to focus on what you can give (not what you can take!).

There are three people involved in a referral: You, the referral source, and the prospective referral. All three of these people come into play when you consider how to implement the ‘reverse referral’ in your practice.
