As a lawyer, Ivo Leenders specializes in tax and related criminal law (FIOD cases), tax (fine) proceedings (formal tax law), tax recovery proceedings (procedures against the recipient, such as directors', chain and hirer's liability) and issues concerning the exchange of information between countries. Ivo regularly gives lectures and is a guest lecturer in formal tax law at Maastricht University and debt collection law at Tilburg University. He is a member of various associations, including the Dutch Association of Tax Lawyers, the Tax Science Association and the International Bar Association (IBA). Ivo is an officer of the Business Crime Committee of the IBA and a member of the Administrative Law Contact Committee of the Breda-Middelburg Bar, the Board of Representatives and the financial committee of the Netherlands Bar. Ivo studied tax law at Maastricht University and civil and criminal procedure law at Radboud University. Before being sworn in, he gained experience as a consultant at one of the major tax consultancy firms. Until July 2019, Ivo worked for more than 16 years at Hertoghs advocaten, the last six of which as a partner.
